Data sources
Every price on this site comes from one authoritative public source, requested server-side and labeled with its published data date.
DollarsPerBarrel uses the U.S. Energy Information Administration Open Data API (version 2). The EIA is the independent statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy, and its data is in the public domain.
| Series ID | What it is | Cadence |
|---|---|---|
| RWTC | WTI crude spot price, Cushing, Oklahoma ($/barrel) | Daily, trading days |
| RBRTE | Europe Brent crude spot price ($/barrel) | Daily, trading days |
Requests happen on this site’s servers, never from your browser, and results are cached for roughly an hour. Values the EIA marks as unavailable are discarded rather than shown as zeros, and when the API cannot be reached the site says so plainly instead of showing stale numbers.
The full detail on parsing, rounding, and every calculator formula lives on the methodology page. DollarsPerBarrel is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the EIA.
