About DollarsPerBarrel

An independent informational utility that translates public energy-price data into understandable information.

DollarsPerBarrel does one job: it takes the latest published WTI and Brent crude-oil prices from public government data and presents it clearly, alongside calculators that turn a headline number into something you can actually use.

All price data on this site comes from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy. The EIA publishes daily spot prices for the major crude benchmarks, and this site displays the most recent published figures with their exact data dates.

Just as important is what DollarsPerBarrel is not. It is not an oil producer, a gasoline retailer, a broker, an exchange, or a government agency. It does not sell fuel, execute trades, or predict prices. Prices shown here are published government data, not real-time market quotations, and nothing on this site is financial or investment advice.

For a full explanation of the data series, update schedule, and every formula used in the calculators, see the methodology page.
